Autofocus lens: Set camera working distance

NOTE:
– Do not force the autofocus motor! This will break the motor.  If you with to manually focus the smartCam, there is a focus slider bar in the futudent recording software.

– If you use the smartCam at a working distance closer than 50cm or further than 120cm, you will need to adjust the camera’s range to match.

1. Find the Focus Card in the camera case:

2.  Mount the camera on a gooseneck or overhead light.

  • If mounted on the overhead light, make sure the light spot focus is aligned with the camera so both point at the same location. Centering ensures proper lighting.

3.  Put the focus card at your normal working distance and aim the camera at the center.

4.  Find the small notch on the smartCam lens sleeve.

  • If your working distance is UNDER 50cm, rotate the lens sleeve 1/4 turn counterclockwise (left) to bring the focus range closer by about 15-20cm.
  • If your working distance is OVER 120cm, rotate the lens sleeve 1/4 turn clockwise (right) to move the focus range further away by about 15-20cm.
