RECORDING SOFTWARE

Where can I download Futudent recording software?
The Futudent recording software for Windows can be downloaded here.
MacOSX and Android recording applications can be downloaded from The App Store & The Play Store, respectively.

Can I use multiple Futudent cameras on the same computer?
Yes – provided you have enough USB ports to plug in the cameras, you can switch between multiple cameras by selecting a camera from the Camera option in the Camera Settings panel on the right side of the recording software.

What is the recorded video format?
All videos are encoded on the fly to Mpeg-4 format.

Is audio recorded as well?
Futudent cameras do not have in-built microphones. The recording software uses either the computer’s internal microphone or a connected external one. An external microphone attached as close as possible to the operator, such as on clothing, guarantees the best audio quality.

How do I get a Futudent account?
To sign up for a Futudent account, click here.

I’ve forgotten my password, how can I recover it?
– Go to user.futudent.com/logon
– Click ‘Forgot your password?’
– Enter your Futudent account email and click ‘Send’

You will receive an email with instructions, follow the instructions to set a new password.

Can I change my Futudent account email address & password?
Yes – you can change your password by following the same instructions above. Your Futudent account email address unfortunately cannot be changed.

How can I share my recordings with colleagues and/or patients?
You can share videos a colleague/patient either through the Futudent software’s ‘Share with colleague/Share with patient’ feature, or by logging into your Futudent account in a web browser.

Your colleague/patient will receive an email invitation to create a free Futudent/MyDentalBook account and view the shared video.

Can I delete uploaded videos?
Yes – you have full control over your videos. You can delete any video at any time both from the recording software and the Futudent cloud.

Do I need permission to film a patient?
This is dependent on individual country regulations. In certain countries, express permission is needed (it is sometimes enough to capture an agreement on video). It is up to the user to ensure compliance with local regulations.

Can I delete my Futudent account?
Yes – you can delete your Futudent account at any time by sending a delete request either through our online support contact form or by sending an email to .

Please note that all information related to your account, such as community posts and uploaded recordings, will be deleted and is non-transferable should you wish to open another Futudent account in the future. You may sign up for a new Futudent account any time in the future.

How can I Grant security & privacy permission on Mac? 
Apple has introduced a privacy protection mechanism requiring special access to the Futudent Recording software. Without this access, the Futudent camera will only display a black screen when selected. This access must be granted locally on the Mac and requires admin rights to grant it. Please check the operation steps:

Step 1: Go to “Settings”

Step 2: Navigate to “privacy & security”  

Step 3: Go to “camera”

Step 4: Enable “Futudent Recording Software”

How can I Grant security & privacy permission on Windows PC (Win 11)? 
Step 1: Open Settings: Privacy & security -> find “Camera” option

Step 2: Tag the camera permission to “ON”  

Step 3: restart the Futudent SW 

"CAMERA CAN NOT DETECT" (Win OS)

How should the camera be recognized? 
The camera should be recognized in Futudent Recording Software -> Settings -> Camera list, further instruction is available.
The camera should be listed in Device Manager -> Camera list. The camera should be recognized by its designed name, such as “proCam XS”. If it is not recognized correctly, please check further instructions:

We recommend following these troubleshooting steps: 

  • Ensure that your computer is up to date with the latest system updates. System updates, advanced updates, and optional updates should be applied. 
  • Verify if the camera is recognized in the Device Manager. Navigate to Device Manager > Camera > proCam XS /smartCam.
  • (By searching “device manager”, check under the “camera” tag)
  • Check for any loose connections. Listen for the connection sound when plugging in the camera or try using a different USB port.
  • Confirm that your antivirus software is not blocking the camera from being detected by our software. 
  • Close all parallel imaging software to prevent confusion for the camera regarding which application to run on. 
  • Verify if the software has permission to access the camera. 
  • Please pay attention if there is a USB connection voice. If the camera hardware is broken the voice would not appear. 

Why the screen image screen is black, although the camera is listed? 
If a firewall or Anti-virus software is installed, please check if the access rights have been granted to the futudent software and camera. Please check further instructions.
Checking in “Settings” -> “Advance settings”, if the “brightness” or other relevant values have been set mistakenly. click on “default” button to check if it boot up the camera.

"CAMERA CAN NOT DETECT" (Mac OS)

Why does my Mac book not recognize the camera? 
Apple has introduced a new privacy protection mechanism that requires special access to be granted to the Futudent Recording software.

We’d like to advise:  

  • Is there a USB HUB taken in use to connect the camera/pedal to the PC? please try to connect the camera to the PC directly. Otherwise, the USB HUB must be power plugged in.  
  • Is there a local Anti-Virus SW installed on the PC or network? (Such as MacAfee Kaspersky, Norton, and Avast.) Please make sure the trust access rights have been granted to Futudent Software and the camera. 
  • Please also check System Preferences, then Security & Privacy, then Privacy, then Camera. If the access rights have been granted to Futudent SW and camera. 
  • Contact support & share the serial, as sometimes the camera might need a firmware update.  
CAMERA FROZEN WHILE RECORDING

Why does the recording freeze at a certain time?
Please check if the PC had been set to “power save” mode.

Why does the recording freeze due to a movement? 
Please check if there is any loose connection.
Please swap cables if there is a broken cable.

Why does The recording freeze when taking a long video? 
Make sure you have enough space on your hardware to store the videos.

1 hour 4K video is about 12G, shooting 1 hour 1080p video is about 1.5-2GB, and shooting 1-hour 720p video is 65MB.

  • Software version: Futudent Recording Software 8.4.3. The info can be found at: Futudent SW -> Gallery-> Help -> about. The latest version  
  • Windows Operating System update. (Please check if all the possible updates have been installed.) 
  • Graphics card update. (Device manager -> Display adaptors -> Intel Graphics ->update) 
  • Switch to other connection cables.  
  • The recommended PC RAM is 16GB. If the PC RAM is occupied fully, the recording process will be stopped (looks like freezing).  
  • Also check the availability of C: disk. (The minimal size is 2G.) 
  • Device over the heart (over 50 degrees Celsius).

How can I connect my Futudent camera to my loupes/light?
Every camera package includes a universal light attachment for mounting your camera onto an overhead/chair light, as well as, a universal loupes clip that fits most loupes. Custom loupes adapters are also available for most loupes and headlights as an added accessory.

What kind of USB cable do Futudent cameras need?
All Futudent cameras use micro USB cables. However, if an cable extension cable is used, make sure it is an ACTIVE extension cable.

Is there a wireless solution for Futudent cameras?
Yes! The Futudent camera can be connected to an Android device. While there is still a cable between the camera and the device, there is no need for a tether to a computer. The Android device can be streamed wirelessly to a nearby screen using a cast device such as ChromeCast.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE

What is your Warranty Policy?
The standard limited warranty period for Futudent cameras is two (2) years from the date of original purchase, accessories are covered by a standard one (1) year warranty. Software incorporated in the products is covered by End User License agreement (EUSA) and its warranty terms.

What is not covered by Futudent’s warranty policy?
The limited warranty does not cover any damage, deterioration, or malfunction resulting from any alteration, modification, improper or unreasonable use or maintenance, misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, exposure to excess moisture, fire, lightning, power surges, or other acts of nature. Please contact us for our full warranty terms.

What should I do if I receive a defective product?
Futudent is committed to delivering quality products. Products received with a defect will be replaced at no additional cost. You can initiate the exchange process by using our online contact form or by sending an email to .

SW CANNOT BE INSTALLED AFTER DOWNLOAD

Why I cannot install the SW after downloading? 
Futudent Recording Software is a completed application (as a setup.exe file).

Try with another browser or clean up the browser cookies.

Accept all the pop-up notifications.

How do I whitelist on McAfee? 

Open McAfee Endpoint Protection Plus. Click Manage Exceptions. Select Add Exception. Enter the name of the program you wish to allow. 

 

Kaspersky 

How do I allow a program through Kaspersky? 

Open the main application window. In the application menu, select Manage apps. In the Blocked apps list, select the application and click Move to trusted. The application is removed from the blocked list and appears in the trusted list. 

 

Norton 

In the Norton product main window, click Settings. In the Settings window, click Firewall. On the Program Control tab, select the program that you want to allow access to the internet. In the Access drop-down list for the program entry, click Allow. 

Avast 

How do I allow Avast Antivirus to allow a program? 

  • Step 1: Open Avast Antivirus 
  • Step 2: Access the Firewall Settings
  • Step 3: Select the Application
  • Step 4: Allow the Programme to go Through the Firewall
